Targeted at students between ages 7-13, it is a spelling competition that teaches them how to use the English language effectively. The Spelling Bee builds the capacity of students by taking them through the rudiments of spelling and teaching them how the English language works.
The National Spelling Bee is a franchise of the internationally acclaimed Scripps National Spelling Bee (SNSB) in the USA; Ghana has been the only African country that participates in the international competition for 15 years now.
Young Educators Foundation in partnership with Lucid Education Initiative, Nigeria, has acquired the franchise to conduct the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Nigeria. This initiative highlights the significance of literacy and spelling education among young students.
This programme allows Nigerian students to enrol and provides a platform for them to showcase their literacy skills on a global stage. The champion will represent Nigeria at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May 2025, alongside winners from Ghana.
A public speaking programme targeted at Secondary School students, TYD aims at giving young people practical experience in the fundamental skills of public speaking. It also provides a focus for the learning of effective English and communication skills among young people.
The Young Debaters is a franchise of the International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC), an English educational programme that has been running for 40 years by the English Speaking Union.
Every year, the winner of the competition in Ghana represents the country at IPSC in London. Mr. Caleb Kudah, an alumnus of the programme won it in 2011 and placed 3rd at IPSC 2011; he currently a journalist at Citi FM.
Epelle-le was borne out of the need to provide more visibility on the importance of learning French in Ghana, especially since Ghana is surrounded by francophone countries. Young Educators Foundation partnered with Alliance Française Accra (with the support of the French Embassy) to implement a French Spelling programme. Targeted at Junior High School students, the programme aims at growing their knowledge of the French language while having fun.
